Asia Satellite TV selects Xcrypt to expand its business model to Pay-TV

Seoul (February 16, 2009) – Xcrypt, Inc. (www.xcrypt.co.kr) today announced that ASTV, one of Thailand¡¯s premier broadcasters and the leading Thai ethnic TV offer in the USA, has selected Xcrypt¡¯s Conditional Access System to expand its business model and soon offer a Pay-TV package to its international viewers.

To meet the growing demand of their viewers in the United States, ASTV in partnership with Pittsburgh International Telecommunication Satellite, a leading international ethnic channel provider in the US, currently provides three satellite signals for their Thai expatriate audience:

ASTV US 1 – ASTV USA News1
(Thai News with informative political, social and entertainment programs)

ASTV US 2 – ASTV USA Variety
(Thai programming pertaining to culture & arts, health, music and entertainment as well as English news and English Thai programming)

ASTV US 3 – ASTV Thai-Lao
(News and lifestyle channel catered to our Lao neighbors and North Eastern Thais)

ASTV USA (http://www.astv-tv.com/usa/astv_usa.html) will be one of the very first ethnic broadcasters to switch to a DVB-S2 signal for its Pay-TV service. A road show will be undertaken in March to demonstrate the new service to ASTV¡¯s reseller nationwide, as well as during the Satellite 2009 trade show to be held in Washington D.C.

Winner Dachpian, ASTV USA¡¯s managing director said: ¡°Xcrypt has been preferred after a long and rigorous selection process due to both the technical advantages they offered and the support they were able to provide. This is an ideal CA system for the medium-sized operators in that they offer security, easy configuration and the opportunity to create new business models aligned with our business goals.¡±

¡°This is our first inroad in the highly competitive US digital TV market¡± said Mr Sohn, Xcrypt CEO and President. ¡°Four months after opening a local sales office for North and South America, we are seeing results which reinforce our vision that this market is key to Xcrypt¡¯s global development. The analog cut-off date of February 17 in the USA will accelerate the digital transition of the small-to-medium sized operators. By being present locally and partnering with market makers, we optimize our chances to seize many opportunities in the coming months.¡±
